NEW CAMPAIGN: Include women and girls in online safety law
From EVAW: 'Today we've launched a new campaign with Glitch, urging the government to include women and girls in new online safety law.
The government’s “world-leading” Online Safety Bill will give social media companies and tech platforms a duty of care to their users.
But in its current format, the Bill fails to protect women and girls, who are disproportionately affected by online abuse:
- Women are 27 times more likely than men to be harassed online
- Black women are 84% more likely to receive abusive or problematic tweets than white women
- 1 in 5 women have experienced online harassment or abuse
